Old Business: VFW Update: (David/Kelly) Flagpole has been ordered. Installation is anticipated after thaw most likely in April. Last Month’s Training (Refresher): Amazing turnout, TJ was very proud of everyone on the Service. Feedback has given some great ideas for future training. Sim Truck crew was impressed by us as much as we were impressed by them. Special Thanks to all the volunteers, present and behind the scenes who made it such a success. Huge Thanks to TJ from all for putting such a great Refresher together.
Command Structure discussion: Positions/Roles- Chief, Asst. Chief, Safety Officer, Maintenance, Training Officer, Supplies and Secretary. Stacy and David will be taking the next month to write up new, more detailed job descriptions for all to discuss at the next meeting. All who hold current positions will remain in those positions.
New Business: Air Ambulance Update: LFN (Life Flight Network) and Reach are both up and running for Gallatin County. Ambulance Post-Run Checks: Ambulances need to be immediately ready to roll again before leaving hospital. Please make sure rigs are clean, sanitary, fully stocked (medical supplies, forms, linens, etc.) and O2 (house and portable) is turned off. Amb 3 needs to have battery turned off (switch at R leg) but leave the Master toggle “On” when parked.
Training: Feb. 19th: Diabetic Emergencies, Report writing and Bariatrics LUCAS 2 form from State explaining how to report deployments, etc. will be placed with unit immediately instead of previous way by calling N. Dakota. Please remember we DO NOT need to report not deploying on DOA’s where there is no reason to.
EMT Classes: Classes are scheduled to begin Feb 20th. A preliminary Meet & Greet is scheduled for this Fri Feb 9th at 1800. Registration has been impressive, we currently have 14 enrolled and 6 or 7 are expected to join our service when done. Please get a hold of TJ if you can help out in any way with the classes or teaching.
Feb 12th : EMS Grand Rounds @ Best Practice Medicine in Bozeman will be holding a special endorsements class for Narcan/Naloxone. Please let TJ know if you want to attend. Maintenance (Pete): Amb 3 and Amb 2 both passed State Inspections today. Perm plates for Amb 3 are on their way. Amb 1 is done at Body Shop and ready to be taken to SCS Wraps for decal work. Amb 1 will need to be re-inspected by State after we get it back, but before it is placed back in service because of the work it has/will have done.
Supplies (David): Ordered Albuterol, Sam Splints, airways, sterile water, 18ga and 20ga catheters, 60 drip IV sets for peds, triangular bandages and Lifepak 15 paper has been ordered. Discussion of Stryker cot rail system needing to be updated in the future at approx. $6000 per rig. This is nationwide issue due to safety concerns current bar does not hold cot securely in event of accident. One benefit of upgraded rail system is integrated charging system for cot batteries.
Safety (John): John was not in attendance, so Kim brought up email John had sent with a picture of same guy both with and without reflective clothing in a side by side comparison to show the remarkable difference. Current vests on rigs are not Highway compliant and need to be upgraded to ANSI 3 that include reflective sleeves. Also, reminder to drive safely after the slick, ice covered roads we experienced this morning.
Issues/Comments: Kelly: Rodeo Appreciation Dinner is scheduled for this Thurs Feb 8th at 1800 up at the Cattlemans Club on 287. Please email Kelly with head count if you are attending ASAP! Dean Folkvord has offered to do a Fundraiser for the service: dinner, dance, etc. Please let Kelly know if you have any ideas. Also VFW has expressed interest in making donation to service, maybe new stair chair to replace lost one?? Pete: Pete is writing Grants for Sterno Stair Chairs, Town Pump for training items (iv arms, etc), Firehouse Subs for Lifepak12 so we will have monitors capable of transmitting in ALL rigs, and Town Pump for new AED’s. Connie: Blood drive is tentatively scheduled for 12/20/18 from 1200 to 1800 at our station. We would need to provide food and drinks.
Scheduling: Please go online and sign up when and where you can.
