Pete was patient in scenario that required traction splint and with full extension (12") applied, there was still approx 3" from back door of ambulance. Keep that in mind with tall patients.

Safety Officer (Cindy): Watched a short video on Bloodborne Pathogens and how to protect yourself. Also reminded us to make sure we have a reflective vest on when on or near roads. We are coming up on 6 months of having the LUCAS in service. To date we have deployed the LUCAS twice. We have had great success with Power CPR and would be more than happy to visit local businesses for demonstrations. Please let Cindy know if you are interested.
General Ambulance Issues (Becky): Handout was given on "Documenting Medical Necessity 101" and the importance of proper documentation on PCR's to avoid investigations, audits and denied claims. Insurance claims can be denied if transport is not deemed "medically necessary". Discussion on instituting online training into our service. We have a couple options, EMS1 ($50/member or approx $800 for the service) or Boundtree University (free of charge). Please check them out and provide your input on which option you think we should implement. Online training is an option for those who miss trainings to make them up. Idea was to assign topic at business meeting and give you two weeks to complete, then lesson would be discussed at monthly training or used for scenarios.
